Single/Double Happiness is a reexamination of the Double Happiness character that Chinese people have used to wish newlyweds happiness and good fortune as a couple. The common interpretation is that happiness comes from a good pairing. In this new piece, Shen removed one of the happiness characters and replaced it with a series of mirrors which gives the viewer the ability to perceive happiness as they choose.
